Eligibility Criteria for Private Life Visa
To apply for a private life visa, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- Under 18 with continuous UK residence for at least 7 years, and it would be unreasonable for you to leave the UK.
- Aged between 18 and 24 with continuous UK residence for more than half your life.
- Aged 18 or over, having spent less than 20 years in the UK, and facing significant difficulties living in the country to which you would have to go.
- Been in the UK continuously for 20 years.
- Born in the UK to a person with permission to stay in the UK based on their private life or applying for it.
Family members can apply on the same application but will be considered separately.
Application Process
The application for the private life visa must be submitted online. You will need to gather all the necessary information and documents to support your application.
Fee Waiver Option
If you cannot afford the application fee due to certain financial constraints, you can apply for a fee waiver online. Eligible situations include not having a place to live, inability to afford essential living costs, or having a very low income that would harm your child’s wellbeing.
Visa Duration
If granted, the private life visa allows you to stay in the UK for 2 years and 6 months. However, if you meet certain criteria, you can apply to stay for 5 years instead.

Extending Your Visa
